NHK WORLD to Feature CYBERDYNE’s Disaster Prevention Initiatives (Scheduled to Air on June 20)

CYBERDYNE’s efforts in the field of disaster prevention utilizing the wearable cyborg HAL will be featured on “BOSAI,” a program broadcast by NHK WORLD-JAPAN. The program is scheduled to showcase examples of HAL’s application in disaster response and rescue operations, highlighting CYBERDYNE’s initiatives to reduce physical strain on workers and improve safety in demanding field environments.

In recent years, CYBERDYNE has expanded its activities in the disaster prevention and firefighting sectors. In May 2026, a firefighting-specific model based on the newly released HAL Lumbar Type for Labor Support (LB06) was selected by Japan’s Fire and Disaster Management Agency (FDMA), Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, for field verification of advanced technologies in disaster response operations. Its slim-profile design enables operation in confined spaces and while driving vehicles, while also allowing users to perform wide-stance squatting movements. At the same time, it helps reduce physical strain during heavy-load transport and stair climbing. In addition, integration with the compact vital-sign sensor Cyvis® enables real-time monitoring of firefighters’ physical conditions.

CYBERDYNE is advancing solutions based on “HCPS Fusion Cybernics with Physical AI” as its core technology, promoting two complementary innovation domains: Cybernics Medical & Health Innovation, which comprehensively addresses healthcare and wellness through the convergence of medical and non-medical fields, and Cybernics Life Innovation, which supports human mobility and work activities. By applying Cybernics technologies such as HAL and Cyvis to social infrastructure sectors, including disaster prevention and firefighting, CYBERDYNE aims to enhance worker safety, reduce physical burden, and contribute to the realization of a safer and more sustainable society.
